We are pleased to announce that Dr. Muhammad Mansoor Anwar, MBBS, MRCPsych (UK), FRCPC, will be joining the Division of Community Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry effective April 1, 2026. We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Anwar to our team, and we look forward to the experience, leadership, and expertise he will bring to our clinical, academic, and service missions.
Highlights of Dr. Anwar’s background include:
- Professional Expertise: Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) and Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) (MRCPsych).
- Specialized Training: Clinical Research Fellowship in Early Intervention in Psychosis (DETECT Service, Dublin, Ireland) and Higher Specialist Registrar training with the College of Psychiatry of Ireland.
- Leadership Experience: Regional Division Head for Tertiary Psychiatry at Fraser Health Authority, overseeing bed-based tertiary psychiatry programs, Assertive Community Outreach, Intensive Case Management, and Regional Tertiary Access and Flow Program.
- Service Development: Led innovative mental health initiatives, including Mobile Integrated Crisis Response Teams, establishment of new ACT teams, and development of the Psychosis Treatment Optimization Program (PTOP).
- Academic Role: Clinical Instructor, Department of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia.
- Clinical Expertise: Extensive experience in tertiary psychiatry, early intervention in psychosis, and mental health service design, with hospital privileges across multiple facilities in British Columbia.
Dr. Anwar is recognized for advancing evidence-based psychiatric practice, leading system improvements, and implementing innovative models of care. His expertise will be a tremendous asset to our department, our partners, and the communities we serve.
