Dr. Jake Hong: New Faculty Member Joining the Department of Psychiatry at Queen's
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Joonki (Jake) Hong, BHSc (Honours), MD, joined the Department of Psychiatry at Queen's University July 30, 2025, in the Division of Shared Care and Student Wellness. Dr. Hong completed his psychiatry residency at Queen’s and brings a strong academic and professional background to our Department.
Dr. Hong holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University (2017–2020) and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) specializing in Child Health & Development (2013–2017).
Dr. Hong brings unique interests in cultural psychiatry, the shared care model, and psychotherapy. He has presented on topics such as systemic barriers to mental health service utilization by immigrants and holistic treatment approaches. His education roles included mentoring medical students, improving academic curricula, and collaborating on safety risk documentation.
Dr. Hong’s dedication to lifelong learning, mentorship, and collaborative teamwork makes him an exceptional addition to our department. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Hong to Queen’s Psychiatry.
