The Department of Psychiatry is pleased to welcome Dr. Juan Joseph Young, who joins us effective April 1, 2026, in the Seniors Mental Health Division. Dr. Young will provide expert geriatric psychiatric care to patients at PCH and KHSC, strengthening our commitment to high-quality, compassionate care for older adults and their families.
About Dr. Young
- Holds an MD and a Master of Health Science from Yale School of Medicine; completed Psychiatry Residency at Case Western Reserve University MetroHealth, and fellowships in Geriatric Psychiatry and Geriatric Clinical Epidemiology and Aging-Related Research at Yale.
- Board-certified in Psychiatry (ABPN, 2019) and Geriatric Psychiatry (ABPN, 2020).
- Previously served as an Attending Psychiatrist at VA Connecticut Healthcare System and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, with clinical work in the Yale Alzheimer’s Disease Research Unit Clinical Core.
Research and scholarship: Dr. Young has contributed to Alzheimer’s disease and aging-related research and has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in geriatric psychiatry and related areas.
Leadership and service: He has participated in professional committee and society service, including roles with the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and state-level psychiatric organizations.
Awards: Recipient of multiple honors recognizing excellence in geriatric mental health and research.
Professional memberships: American Psychiatric Association, American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, and Alzheimer’s Association ISTAART, among others.
