I am delighted to announce that, effective December 8, 2025, Dr. Cherie Jones-Hiscock has been appointed as Division Chair and Clinical Director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
Dr. Jones earned her MD from Memorial University of Newfoundland and completed residency training in Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, along with a Master’s in Community Health and Epidemiology. She joined Queen’s Faculty of Health Sciences in 2000 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016. Most recently, she served as Interim Chair for the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
Clinically, Dr. Jones has extensive experience in child and adolescent psychiatry and dual diagnosis care, combining her passion for community-based mental health with advocacy for children, youth, and families. She is also a highly respected educator and leader, having directed the Clinical and Communication Skills Program, served as Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, and contributed significantly to curriculum development and accreditation processes.
Beyond Queen’s, Dr. Jones has held leadership roles nationally, including serving on the Royal College Specialty Committee on Psychiatry and the Committee for Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools.
