Dr. Kate Harkness is a Professor in the Psychology and Psychiatry Departments at Queen’s University. Dr. Harkness received her PhD from the University of Oregon, and completed her residency and post-doctoral fellowship at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her research focus is on the role of stress and early trauma in the etiology and ongoing pathology of major depression in adolescence and adulthood. Her current work is investigating neurohormonal, social cognitive, and motivational/reward factors that increase the sensitivity to, and generation of, stress in major depression.
