Dr. Sophia Kogan is an adult psychiatrist with specialized clinical and research interests in integrated care, neuromodulation, and metabolic disorders in psychiatry.
She received her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where she also completed a PhD in Molecular Medicine, with doctoral research focused on the role of inflammation in obesity. She subsequently completed residency training in adult psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where her research examined the effects of aerobic exercise on cognitive functioning in individuals with schizophrenia. During residency, she also completed advanced training in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
Following completion of her training, Dr. Kogan served as Director of the ECT Service at Manhattan Psychiatric Center. She later returned to the University of Massachusetts Medical School and served as the Associate Medical Director for Interventional Psychiatry. She is actively involved in medical education and enjoys teaching and supervising trainees. Outside of her professional activities, she values time spent outdoors and with her family.
