Dr. Fairbairn specializes in the community-based treatment of patients with complex and treatment-refractory psychotic disorders. In his role on an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, he provides multidisciplinary care to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and significant psychosocial challenges.
His expertise includes the psychopharmacology of psychotic disorders, including the use of clozapine and long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications. His clinical interests also includes the management of comorbid physical health conditions in patients with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders.
Dr. Fairbairn is also actively involved in medical education. He contributes extensively to both undergraduate and postgraduate training, including coordinating the weekly didactic sessions for the core curriculum of the psychiatry residency program.
